Harlan + Holden was built on the idea of a “perfect” wardrobe. The homegrown label made its name on a stringent house DNA that values both peerless design and ease of wear — classic fabrics cut in modern silhouettes, the luxury found hardwired in its simplicity.
It’s the pursuit of staples; simply put, the pursuit of an arsenal of pieces that build on the idea a uniform — garments that can be worn repeatedly with pride; basics that go beyond basic; pieces that slip on and off in a single gesture. It’s being design-driven with ease in mind, Harlan + Holden took their ethos for clothing further: meet the “Step Shoe”, a landmark product debuting their Harlan’s foray into footwear, early in 2016.
The Step Shoe comes in one silhouette but six variations in either color or fabrication. The shoe is a pointed flat contoured with sleek curves, made in calf leather — either in nappa or nubuck — designed with a 1-step method in mind: it’s slip on and off you go. No straps, laces or buckles.
The Step Shoe comes in a neutral palette of blush, powder blue, nude and black. The in-sole is made with 100% calf leather to allow for breathability, its curved sides were designed to add support and comfort. The outer-sole is 3/4’s leather and 1/4th rubber detail for a confident grip.
The Harlan + Holden customer isn’t beholden to her closet — she longs for a tailored edit, a polished wardrobe that is supposed to work harder than she does. The Step Shoe was conceptualized with this in mind; an approach to dressing that isn’t bound by trend or changing tastes — be it at the office or the grocery, a dinner or a jaunt to the weekend market, this could be the “perfect” shoe to fit the modern woman’s every occasion. —Martin Yambao
